Love your article. I feel exactly the same way. We have a little girl with Down Syndrome-Molly. I knew ahead of her birth. She is one of five girls and she has enriched our lives more than I can describe.
Thanks for sharing your emotions with the world. The world is a better place having Down syndrome people in it.

I have a daughter who is almost 6 months with DS. She is the youngest of 7 girls and an absolute delight. I just wanted to say thanks for your article. It is so uplifting, and so, so, so right!! I have learned so much in the 5 months since her diagnosis, and I am sure I am already beoming a better person.

I love your article. We have a baby with down syndrome (now 13 months) and it has been amazing. Everything I ever thought I knew changed with Peter's birth - named for faith.
The stereotypes of DS just don't seem to apply to Peter. One pediatrician told us not to expect him to ever be a rocket scientist but he would be loving because apparently all people with DS are loving. Well, Peter has a temper and personality just like any child and if he declares that he wants to be a doctor or scientist, as far as we're concerned he has as much potential to do that as anyone. He may learn differently but that doesn't mean he won't learn just as well as anyone else. And I wouldn't change him having DS for anything because I know God has a purpose for him and our family.
