Sleep Through the Dark

My friend Jenny Marrs sent me these lyrics, written by her son John, about how he feels when he’s played too many video games.  John is in 8th grade and has Down syndrome.

Sleep Through the Dark
by John Marrs

My mind is going nuts on the light.
I’m all alone, and I get all dizzy.
Then the light is going off all day…
But I can sleep through the dark,
And finally I can think through the next day.

Chorus:
Sleep in my head…
Throughout my mind
The mind isn’t working,
Dark in my hands.

Im turning black in my whole body
And I can see my hands,
It’s turning black again,
Then I don’t realize it’s dark in my room.
It’s a trick that they pulled.

Chorus:
Sleep in my head…
Throughout my mind.
The mind isn’t working,
Dark in my hands.
