You are right, Nick, about wisdom. I was trying to be literary and parallel the words from the Bible verse. But you are right. Let me reword my statement, then. Mary may not have the type of “wisdom” that makes people think highly of themselves for their superiority. But the kind of wisdom that allows her to see into and understand needy hearts, she has that. But she’ll never boast about it.

I agree with what you say, Miriam, although I’m not sure that I’d narrowly define wisdom to exclude Mary or any child like her. In fact I think I’d more often exclude ourselves, and most certainly the woman who posts eugenic-sounding tripe like what you quote here. The battle will never cease.
